Choosing the Right Builder for Your Project
Now that we’ve spent time going over renovations with eco-friendly and safe building materials, it’s time to talk about the big question: Who do you trust to help you with your project? How do you know that a contractor has enough experience in energy efficient, safe materials to offer expert advice and quality remodeling services?
Experience is important. Since we spend about 90 percent of our time indoors, building materials used inside the home can have a huge impact on the health of your family, especially for children and older family members aging in place. Our team of professionals goes through extensive training to recognize dangerous materials during the demolition process as well as choosing safe and energy efficient products that will protect your family and the environment. These are just a few of the qualifications that we feel are important in any remodeler that you may be considering for your project.
NARI stands for the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. Every home renovation should be completed by a NARI remodeler. As a NARI member, Qualify Craftsmen must follow comprehensive guidelines including maintaining all required licensing and insurances, adhering to local building codes, obtaining necessary permits for each project, as well as complying with a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. As a NARI member, we also have access to a wide range of resources to ensure that we stay up to date with the latest industry information.
Certified Green Professional
Quality Craftsmen is also proud to be a Certified Green Professional. In order to qualify for this designation from the National Association of Home Builders, we are required to complete coursework on a variety of “green” principles including efficient use of energy and water, indoor air quality, and other topics associated with the National Green Building Standard. This training allows us to help our clients make informed decisions about including safe and environmentally sustainable building materials without increasing the cost of their project.
There are only around 3,000 active Certified Green Professional businesses at work in the United States, and we are proud to be one of their members.
EarthCraft is an additional, more localized green building program that specializes in finding green building solutions for our particular climate and needs. Our certification in EarthCraft allows us to help find the right solutions for homeowners who care about energy and water efficiency, air quality, and much more, without sacrificing visual appeal. The Earthcraft program is a points based system that is verified by a third party. Obtaining the Earthcraft designation for your home not only means that it meets strict standards, the certification may also provide you with additional resale value if you ever sell your home in the future.
Aging In Place Specialist
Aging in Place is a concept that combines efficiency with the knowledge that homes need to change as those who live there grow older. An Aging in Place certification gives us the knowledge to recommend specific changes to baby boomers and other older clients who want to stay in their homes as long as possible, but understand that some changes need to be made for safety, accessibility, and security.
